Member of the Federation Council from the Tula region Dmitry Savelyev was detained while leaving the building of the upper house of parliament.
This information was reported on Friday, August 2, by the head of the Federation Council Committee on Regulations and Parliamentary Activities, Vyacheslav Timchenko.
Savelyev was stripped of his senatorial immunity and almost immediately detained. Law enforcement officers approached him right as he was leaving the Federation Council meeting room, TASS reports.

At the request of the Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov, Savelyev was stripped of immunity. It is reported that the politician is suspected of involvement in organizing the murder.

On Friday, the upper house of parliament summed up the results of the spring session. The Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko gave a speech.
After this, the closed part of the Federation Council session took place. At it, the senators decided to lift Savelyev's immunity, satisfying the request of the Prosecutor General of Russia.
After that, the politician left, but law enforcement officers were already waiting for him at the exit. It is specified that investigative measures are being carried out with Savelyev.
Later, state media reported that the politician and his family members owned a mansion in the UK. The Savelyevs acquired the 489-meter overseas property in 2016 and were still listed as owners in 2020.
