A young Chinese singer has died suddenly after three massage sessions in the northeastern province of Udon Thani.
The woman was declared dead from blood poisoning and cerebral edema.
The singer visited the same massage parlour three times a month for neck and back massages, Bangkok Post reports.
A close friend of the deceased said that after the massage, the singer felt numbness in half of her body. The woman also could not move her left hand.
The singer shared her concerns about her health with her fans.
Before going to the massage parlor, the woman only had pain in her shoulder.
After the first procedure, the back of her head began to hurt, and a week later her arm went numb.
After two weeks, the Chinese woman complained of severe pain and stiffness throughout her body. It got to the point where she could not turn over in bed.
After her third massage, she felt tingling in her fingers and a constant feeling of cold and heat.
Later, the numbness spread throughout the body and intensified significantly.
The singer's condition worsened sharply on November 18, when she was unable to move or care for herself.
The Department of Health has called for an inspection of the massage parlor for accreditation and a license to provide such services.
Some specialists, as emphasized, use Thai massage and various techniques that do not meet standards, which leads to injuries.
