Investigators have explained how they managed to identify the killer of a popular artist from the late Soviet era.
Law enforcement officers identified the criminal based on fragments of a bloody shirt.
The press service of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for St. Petersburg reported this on its Telegram channel.

Law enforcement officials interviewed specialists who conducted examinations into the murder of Igor Talkov during the first investigation in the early 1990s.
One of them had blood-stained cutouts from the shirt of concert director Valery Shlyafman. It was these fragments that helped investigators establish the name of the killer.
Additional genetic studies helped to confirm this version.
In addition, the police interviewed more than 50 witnesses. Their testimony helped reconstruct the events that unfolded at the Yubileiny stadium on October 6, 1991.
Among those interviewed are pop artists and former police officers who were present at the scene of the incident.
Investigators emphasized that they have a convincing evidence base of Shlyafman's guilt. According to the latest information, the former director of Talkov is hiding in Israel.
