Cleaning with a Sock: It Works Better Than You Think

There are no mop attachments, and buying them is expensive and you don’t have time for it?

There is a great alternative in the form of a regular cotton sock.

Stretch it on a mop instead of a rag and try to clean the floors this way. After washing, the sock is ready for reuse.

Imagine you notice dust on the floor and you are out of nozzles. A sock will save the situation, especially for dry and wet cleaning.

Step by step process of usage

Choose an old but clean sock, preferably thick and without holes.

Stretch the sock over the mop head so that it covers the entire surface tightly.

If the sock slips, secure it with an elastic band or tie it in a knot.

For dry cleaning, use the sock as is; for wet cleaning, moisten it with water or vinegar solution.

Clean floors as usual, picking up any dust or moisture.

After cleaning, remove the sock and rinse under water if necessary.

Wash the sock in the washing machine with regular laundry.

Dry the sock completely to avoid mildew and store until next use.

Why does it work? The sock is soft, collects dust and fur well, and is ready for reuse after washing. For example, it is ideal for cleaning a child's room - it is economical and safe.

Tips: Choose cotton socks for better absorption. For very dirty floors, change your socks more often or use two different hosiery at a time. Keep dry socks in a separate place to avoid mixing them up with clean ones.

Instead of socks, you can use old T-shirts cut into strips for a similar effect.

Make sure that your alternative mop head does not have holes, otherwise cleaning will be less effective and thorough.

Although specialized mop attachments are more durable, they are quite expensive and not always available, which cannot be said about regular socks.

Bottom line: a sock is an easy way to clean floors. Try it, and cleaning will become easier!
