A fire broke out on the territory of the largest monastery of the Russian Orthodox Church.
Details were reported by the press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry.
The incident at the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius in Sergiev Posad occurred on Wednesday, December 18.

The roof of the second tier caught fire, the department reported.
The fire covered an area of approximately 10 square meters.
There were 25 specialists and five units of equipment from the Ministry of Emergency Situations working at the scene.
Firefighters quickly localized the fire and soon completely extinguished the flames.
This monastery houses the world-famous icon of Andrei Rublev, “Trinity”.
The media found out that the relic was not damaged as a result of the incident.
According to preliminary information, the fire was caused by faulty electrical wiring.
Before the firefighters arrived, monks came out to fight the fire using fire extinguishers.
The Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius is located in the heart of Sergiev Posad. Its founder is the abbot, the miracle worker of all Rus', Sergius of Radonezh.
