Former Dagestani sports minister Magomed Magomedov was found wounded in a pretrial detention cell in Moscow.
The incident became known on Sunday, July 21, RIA Novosti writes, citing its informed source.
Pre-trial detention facility staff discovered bodily injuries on 67-year-old Magomedov.
In particular, the former official was found to have cuts. He was given the necessary medical care: "There is no threat to his life."
Magomedov was detained in the fall of 2023. In early October, he was arrested by the Basmanny Court of Moscow in a case of embezzlement (or misappropriation) on an especially large scale.
Before his arrest, he served as the head of the city of Kizilyurt, and before that he was the Minister of Physical Culture and Sports of Dagestan (from 2012 to 2021).
According to the investigation, Magomedov was involved in criminal activity during his time in the ministerial post.
