The President of Belarus considered the request of German citizen Rico Krieger.
A native of Germany, sentenced to death by a court in Minsk, has been pardoned by Alexander Lukashenko.
The politician’s decision was reported on Tuesday, July 30, by BelTA, citing the presidential press service.

It is noted that the head of state took into account all the circumstances and made the decision to pardon.
Krieger did not appeal the death sentence, but immediately made a request to the Belarusian president.
While considering the pardon, Lukashenko held a meeting with people who are "immersed in the process." The politician wanted to hear the details of the case and find out their opinion on the matter.
A native of Germany was accused under 6 articles of the Belarusian Criminal Code.
He was found guilty of committing a terrorist act, mercenarism, cooperation with the intelligence service of a foreign state, and other charges.
Berlin is monitoring Krieger's fate. The German Foreign Ministry contacted its Belarusian colleagues, and options for further developments were discussed.
