The Polish Foreign Ministry responded to the visit of Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico to Moscow.

According to the Deputy Head of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andrzej Szejna, the reasons for Fico’s visit to Moscow are extremely clear.

He stressed that they are due to complete dependence on Russian energy resources, according to an article in PolsatNews .

The head of the Polish department added that the policies of Hungary and Slovakia towards the Russian Federation have been clear for a long time.

Slovakia appears to be trying to find new solutions to the issue of gas supplies to the country.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic had previously announced Fico's intention to visit Russia.

The Prime Minister planned to hold talks with Putin on gas supplies, taking into account the new realities from January 2025.

Fico explained his visit to Russia by the decision of the Ukrainian side to refuse gas transit through its territory in the new year.

He also said that Moscow confirmed its readiness for dialogue on gas transit. However, the solution to the issue is complicated by the fact that from January 1 this becomes practically impossible.
