Russian Roman Seleznev told how he learned about the prisoner exchange.
He, one of eight prisoners to be exchanged, learned about it via an illegal telephone.
Seleznev revealed these details in a conversation with TASS .
He said that on the day of the exchange he was informed of a new case and a move to another state in connection with it. Prison officials told him to pack his things.
However, other prisoners claimed that he was being prepared to exchange another prisoner.
Selezneva said he was unsure of the veracity of the information. Then one of the prisoners showed him the information on the illegal phone.
The Russian had previously spent five years in a US prison and returned to the Russian Federation as a result of a prisoner exchange between the US and the Russian Federation.
