The National Bank of Kazakhstan made a decision on the Moscow Exchange.

The regulator announced a fundamental decision regarding the Moscow Exchange.

In June, a representative of the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange announced the possibility of excluding Moscow Exchange from the list of shareholders, according to a briefing by the Chairman of the National Bank of Kazakhstan on social networks.

It is emphasized that the Moscow Exchange owns 13.1 percent of the shares.

At a briefing, the Chairman of the National Bank of Kazakhstan Timur Suleimenov said that this decision was discussed with the Russian side.

Previously, the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange and the Moscow Exchange signed an agreement on strategic cooperation.

However, the situation changed dramatically after the introduction of sanctions against the Moscow Exchange.

Representatives of the Moscow Exchange decided that their status could affect the work of the Kazakhstan exchange.

Therefore, the decision to withdraw has been made, Suleimenov added.

The very fact of the Moscow Exchange’s presence among shareholders does not pose any sanctions risks directly for Kazakhstan.

However, the presence of a sanctioned person among the stock exchange’s shareholders may limit Kazakhstan’s ability to maintain business relations with foreign partners.
