The UN requested access to the Belgorod and Bryansk regions from the Russian Federation

The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, represented by its official representative Elizabeth Throssell, sent a request to Russia.

As Throssel explained, the UN wants to monitor the situation that is currently being observed in the Belgorod, Bryansk and Kursk regions.

It is emphasized that today a counter-terrorist operation regime is in effect in the specified regions, as reported by TASS .

The UN representative explained: "We want to send our staff to these regions. We have sent our request to the Russian authorities."

UN Interest

As Throssel indicated, the Organization intends to assess the situation in these areas, in particular the observance of human rights.

The UN official added: "The Belgorod, Bryansk and Kursk regions are seriously affected by the fighting."

According to the representative of the Organization, it is necessary to conduct an analysis of the current situation.

Trossel also emphasized that a response from the Russian leadership is currently expected.
