Donald Trump said he was responsible for "destroying" the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline by halting its construction.

The US presidential candidate spoke about this in an interview with journalist Tucker Carlson.

Trump noted that he is being groundlessly accused of working for Russia and being its spy, the TCN website reports.

The politician dismissed the accusations as "sick."

According to Trump, the construction of Nord Stream 2 was an important task for Russia.

The gas pipeline, which was supposed to connect Russia and Germany, could have become the largest in the world.

Trump said: "I stopped him. No one could have done it but me."

The explosions at Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 occurred on September 26, 2022.
Germany, Denmark and Sweden suggested it could have been a deliberate act of sabotage.
