The Russian Foreign Ministry commented on the militarization of northern Norway.
This action by Oslo will not improve the country's security, but will only make it worse.
RIA Novosti reports this with reference to previously published information.

The issue is the revision by Norwegian authorities of their self-restrictions on foreign military activity deployed near the border with Russia.
The militarization of the Norwegian north will not lead to an increase in its security, Zakharova emphasized.
According to her, the actions of the Norwegian authorities will only make things worse, as they will lead to an escalation of tensions.
She recalled that this decision was taken supposedly with the aim of protecting the region's residents, who feel threatened without the presence of allied forces.
However, in reality, Zakharova believes, residents of the border region of Eastern Finnmark certainly do not consider Russia an enemy of Norway.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry recalled that it was the Red Army that liberated this region from the fascist invaders 80 years ago.
