People who are optimistic about the world may have problems perceiving and analyzing information.
Pessimists are more realistic about their prospects and are better at handling tasks that require attention.
Optimism may be linked to lower intelligence, according to Dr Chris Dawson, a professor of economics and behavioural sciences and co-author of the study, the University of Bath reports.

During the study, scientists surveyed more than 36 thousand families about their expectations of financial well-being and compared them with actual results.
They found that optimists' strategies lead to making bad decisions, which leads to worse outcomes in reality.
Dawson emphasized that this phenomenon is most evident in the implementation of financial decisions.
