A new pandemic could be caused by a new pathogen, either natural or man-made.
Rospotrebnadzor head Anna Popova reported this at the international forum "Biothreats and Pathogens. BRICS Response".
She explained that the threat of the global spread of dangerous infections requires joint efforts of countries, writes Rossiyskaya Gazeta .
She also did not rule out that a new pandemic could be triggered by a pathogen of either natural or artificial origin.
According to Popova, in this regard, joint scientific research and monitoring of dangerous infections are very important.
Popova concluded that increasing biological security will help protect humanity from new threats.
