Excavations were carried out in the south of Chersonesos in 2020–2023.

During this time, scientists have studied artifacts that date back to different eras.

During the study of layers dating back to the Roman period (1st century AD), numerous cremation sites were found.

At that time, this method of burial was widespread in this region.

Here archaeologists found gold jewelry and part of the remains. Later, but already at the burial site, scientists discovered ashes.

It turned out that all these remains belonged to one person. After cremation, part of the ashes were transferred to the crypt, and the other part remained at the place where the body was burned, along with jewelry.

The identity of this person cannot be established, but researchers have no doubt that he was an extremely noble person.
