American scientists claim to have created a completely effective cure for HIV infection.
Studies have shown that an injectable drug called lenacapavir provides 100% protection.
This preventative measure is administered twice a year, writes the New Atlas portal.

The secret of the drug is that it neutralizes the capsid. This substance is needed by the virus to penetrate the cell.
Lenacapavir prevents this substance from being used, so infection does not occur.
The drug was created by the American company Gilead Sciences. Research was conducted in Uganda and South Africa.
Before lenacapavir, other drugs were created - Descovy and Truvada. But they need to be used daily and do not provide 100% protection.
The lenacapavir study involved 5,300 people. No infections were reported. In the case of Truvada, 16 people were infected, and in the case of Descovy, 39.
Studies of lenacapavir and Descovy are ongoing and have not yet been approved by regulators.
