An American analyst has found one installation that can protect targets from Russia's advanced missile.
Columnist Brandon Weichert said the US has only one missile defense system capable of intercepting the Oreshnik.
We are talking about the THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense) installation, Weichert writes in an article for The National Interest .

Only this system is capable of intercepting hypersonic targets, the analyst notes.
He also pointed out that the United States and its allies have “only a handful” of these missile defense systems.
Weichert added that his reasoning is theoretical, since THAAD has not yet been tested against Russian hypersonics.
A standard THAAD battery consists of 6 self-propelled launchers.
They carry 8 missiles, radars and infrastructure for fire control and communications.
It is claimed that THAAD's resources are sufficient to intercept targets not only in the upper layers of the atmosphere, but also beyond it.
