Dangerous chargers can steal smartphone users' data.
Security researchers have revealed a modified USB-C cable.
Hackers can remotely activate it to connect to a smartphone, according to an article in PhoneArena .

Security expert John Bruner told subscribers on his personal blog that a modified USB-C cable can be used to steal data from a device.
Attackers can turn on the device, giving themselves access to the camera, microphone, and other operations.
The dangerous cable appears to be little different from regular chargers.
However, the attack chip hidden within it can be detected through computer scanning.
At the same time, the dangerous cable will charge the phone properly and will not look dangerous.
A modified USB-C cable was created by researcher Mike Grover to demonstrate the potential threat posed by such gadgets.
