On Tuesday, July 9, a number of southern regions of the Russian Federation were hit by extremely hot weather, which led to a serious emergency.

Abnormal temperatures caused massive power outages.
The problem affected the Astrakhan and Rostov regions, Krasnodar Krai, and the Republic of Adygea.
Power engineers are already working to restore power supply. They are conducting emergency recovery operations in an enhanced mode, the Ministry of Energy emphasized.
About 600 thousand people were left without electricity due to the heat. The majority of them live in the Rostov region (324 thousand).
In Krasnodar Krai and Adygea, 181 thousand people were left without access to electricity. In Astrakhan Oblast, this number is almost 95 thousand.
