The Armenian authorities have decided to rename cognac due to EU conditions.
The Republic is ready to abandon the name “Armenian Cognac” in favor of Armenian brandy.
Yerevan has already notified the competent EU authorities about this, said the head of the country's Ministry of Economy Gevorg Papoyan, TASS reports.

According to him, Armenia and the European Union have agreed to promote the new brand.
The corresponding campaign will be launched in the second half of November this year.
Before this, the Prime Minister of the Republic Nikol Pashinyan stated that, in fact, Armenian cognac does not exist.
When it comes to this alcoholic drink, it means “the intangible value of France”.
Pashinyan called on his country's citizens to say "brandy" instead of "cognac." In his opinion, this would be more correct.
In the post-Soviet space, cognac is more recognizable than brandy. In fact, Armenian cognac has become one of the symbols of the Transcaucasian republic.
