Russia may introduce an annual payment of the 13th pension on the birthday.
A bill that will affect all categories of pensioners will be submitted to the State Duma again.
The one-time payment will be a one-time support for all pensioners, RIA Novosti reports.
According to Deputy Speaker of the State Duma Boris Chernysh, the bill was not considered in 2023 due to shortcomings.
This year, the revisions were taken into account and included in the document.
Chernyshev explained that the document concerns the annual payment of the 13th pension. The one-time payment will be timed to coincide with the pensioners' birthday.
Assistance from the state will allow elderly people to use the funds for personal needs.
The payment will be available to all categories of pensioners, since the rising cost of living has a negative impact on pensioners’ incomes.
Chernysh noted that the average pension in the country barely covers the basic expenses of the elderly.
The deputy added that the adoption of the law will contribute to improving the standard of living of pensioners.
