It has become known that Renat Akchurin, a Russian cardiac surgeon well known outside the country, has passed away.
The doctor is known for having operated on former Russian President Boris Yeltsin in 1996.
RIA Novosti reported this with reference to the press service of the Russian Ministry of Health, which confirmed the fact of the doctor’s death.

According to the department, the outstanding specialist was 79 years old. The reason for the specialist's death is not reported.

The cardiac surgeon was the deputy general director for surgery at the Chazov National Medical Research Center of Cardiology.
The contribution of the medical specialist to domestic surgery is invaluable. He became the founder of two directions in the field he developed: cardiomicrovascular and hybrid cardiac surgery.
It was under Akchurin's leadership that a team of specialists performed heart surgery on the first Russian president, Boris Yeltsin.
Health Minister Mikhail Murashko expressed his condolences in connection with the death of the outstanding specialist and sent corresponding letters to his colleagues and relatives.
