Obstetricians-gynecologists and neonatologists turned out to be in demand.

If we take into account midwives, the shortage of specialists amounts to 8.5–11.5 thousand people, analysts note.

There are 1,665 obstetric departments in Russia, where 44 thousand obstetricians-gynecologists, 5.6 thousand neonatologists and 44.6 thousand midwives work.

Experts have identified one of the reasons why such a significant shortage of personnel has arisen.

It is noted that 100% of budget places in clinical residency in obstetrics and gynecology are targeted.

But about 15–35% of graduates refuse to fulfill their obligations specified in the contract after graduation.
