Lavrov explained: “At the same time, we want to protect a possible future EU security agreement from double interpretations,” as reported by RIA Novosti .

As the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized, Russia took into account the “sad experience of consultations with Western countries and Ukraine.”

Lavrov added: "We are interested in signing an agreement that, I hope, will resolve the Ukrainian crisis."
