Voting on the design of the new 1000 ruble banknote has started on the Bank of Russia website.
Participants were asked to choose symbols for the back of the new banknote.
The Bank of Russia’s statement emphasized that the Central Bank Chairperson voted online.
According to the regulator, 400 thousand Russians also voted on the design of the new banknote.
As of today, as it is emphasized, the high-speed passenger hydrofoil ship "Meteor" is in the lead. The majority of votes were cast for it.
According to the voting, the monument to Salavat Yulaev came in second place, and the Palace of Farmers in the city of Kazan came in third.
The release of the updated 1,000-ruble banknote was planned for 2023, but was stopped due to public reaction.
Taking into account the different opinions of Russians, it was decided to hold an online vote for symbols for the new banknote.
