In Russia, Muslim men have been officially allowed to enter into second religious marriages.
This decision was made by the Council of Ulema of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM).
The key condition for the permissibility of polygamy will be the fair and equal treatment of the husband towards all his wives, TASS reports.

First of all, this concerns material aspects.
All wives should be equally provided for.
Each spouse must have separate housing.
In addition, a man should devote an equal amount of time to each wife.
If a citizen is unable to fulfill these conditions, then he is prohibited from marrying multiple women.
But even in this case there are exceptions. If one of the women voluntarily renounces the aforementioned rights, then remarriage is possible.
There are other situations where polygamy may be available to a Muslim man.
For example, if the first wife is unable to have children due to health reasons or is simply not ready for it.
Thus, polygamy is officially approved in Russia and permission for it will depend on a number of conditions.
