A Russian Paralympian has described how Russian athletes were treated at a sporting event.
The athletes were shortchanged on the basis of their nationality, not receiving a gift from the Paralympic sponsor.
RIA Novosti reports this with reference to a statement made by three-time Paralympic champion Andrei Vdovin.
It is noted that we are talking about folding models of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 smartphone. These phones were designed in a gold-plated case, on which an image of the Olympic rings was applied.
It is noted that these devices were placed in the athletes' welcome kit in the Olympic Village. However, the Russian athletes did not receive them.
Paralympians from Russia tried to find out why they were singled out on the basis of their nationality.
You [Russian athletes – editor’s note] are an unofficial delegation, so you are not allowed, – this is the answer the athletes received.
According to Vdovin, this was the only unpleasant moment at the Paralympics, but this impression faded after the medals won by the athletes.
