The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has spoken out about trips to the United States.
According to the department, Russian citizens should refrain from traveling to Western countries.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, made this warning at a briefing, RIA Novosti reports.
The agency's warning concerns both the United States of America itself and countries considered Washington's satellites. Among them were Canada and the states that are part of the European Union.
As Maria Zakharova emphasized, in the context of the growing confrontation between Moscow and Washington, which have long been balancing on the brink of a breakup, this could also affect ordinary citizens.
In particular, travel to the United States could pose serious problems for people.
Zakharova warned that Russian citizens are often detained in the United States because they are closely monitored by American intelligence agencies.
Therefore, the department believes that travel should be avoided unless absolutely necessary.
