The amendments adopted by the State Duma propose increasing fines for a number of traffic violations.
In particular, from January 1, 2025, fines for speeding will increase by 50%.
The amendments were approved by the Duma Committee on State Building and Legislation, RIA Novosti emphasizes.
The fine for speeding will be 750-7500 rubles from January.
Driving while intoxicated and refusing to undergo a medical examination will be punishable by a fine of up to 45 thousand rubles.
For failure to comply with road signs the fine will be up to 750 rubles.
In addition to increasing fines, a 25% discount has been established for their payment within 30 days from the date of the ruling.
The State Traffic Safety Inspectorate reported that 132.4 thousand road accidents occurred in the Russian Federation last year.
This figure increased by 4.5% compared to 2022 data.
