Is a cup of coffee after a spicy chicken curry a habit?
A study in Gastroenterology has shown that caffeine increases the production of hydrochloric acid, corroding the stomach lining, which is already irritated by capsaicin.
"It's like pouring alcohol on an open wound," says gastroenterologist Dr. John Ioannou.
Artem from Ufa described it in the Telegram channel “Stomach is OK”:
"After drinking chili coffee, I ended up in hospital with a bleeding ulcer. The surgeon said it was a typical case for those who like spicy food and coffee."
A study in the World Journal of Gastroenterology confirmed that such patients have a 4-fold higher risk of ulcers.
Herbalist Elena Korsun recommends ginger tea with turmeric:
"It relieves inflammation and accelerates the healing of the mucous membrane."
