Researchers from England have warned about the risks of sleeping with a phone in bed.
A recent study has confirmed that smartphone surfaces are home to a variety of dangerous bacteria.
Among them, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which is found in cockroach feces, was found, the Daily Mail reports.
The germs, it is emphasized, can cause pneumonia and infections, especially in people with weakened immune systems.
According to experts, these factors increase the risk of infection with potentially dangerous bacteria.
As part of the study, scientists collected samples from 10 smartphones and 10 smartwatches.
Lab tests have shown that the devices are among the dirtiest.
Even more bacteria were found on the surface of watches and phones than on TV remote controls.
A survey showed that 74% of respondents sleep with their phones next to their heads or under their pillows.
Experts urge people to take precautions and regularly wipe down surfaces with alcohol wipes.
They stress that the bed should be a place of rest, not a breeding ground for bacteria.
