In most areas, hard water comes out of the tap, which becomes the scourge of all the household appliances we use.

Not only coffee makers, washing machines or dishwashers suffer from this, but also electric kettles.

Traditional kettles that are heated on gas, induction or electric stoves are also not free from this problem. How to deal with this problem?

Citric acid

The use of citric acid to clean appliances is certainly well known. Cleaning an electric kettle from scale with it is a well-known method.

To do this, pour water into a kettle, boil it, and then add two teaspoons of citric acid.
After an hour, pour out the water, in which the plaque will be visible to the naked eye.

Some argue that this procedure can be done with cold water. However, the main thing is time and our patience.

After the entire procedure, it is necessary to rinse the kettle, pour fresh water into it, boil it and rinse it again.

Baking soda

Baking soda is an irreplaceable and completely natural product that, along with vinegar or citric acid, should be an integral accessory in our kitchen.

Cleaning an electric kettle with baking soda is done in the same way as cleaning with citric acid.

Pour water into the device, then add two teaspoons of soda, wait at least 15 minutes, and you're done.
After this, we rinse the kettle so that it is ready to boil fresh water.

Vinegar

Pour half a cup of water and a cup of vinegar into the kettle. It is recommended to fill the kettle with water, which will also increase the proportion of vinegar. This will help get rid of limescale from every corner.

Boil the water and wait at least one hour. After this time, pour it out, rinse the kettle and boil a fresh portion of water in it.

Vinegar has one drawback - it smells bad, so for our convenience it is worth rinsing it well. However, it is an effective way to clean an electric kettle from scale.

Lemon juice

If you are particularly sensitive to the strong smells of vinegar, acid or soda, use an even more neutral solution, namely lemon juice.

However, it should be noted that this method is less effective and may not be able to clean very heavy scale deposits on the first try.

However, it will minimize the unpleasant smell and the need to rinse and boil the water in the kettle several times.

Coca-Cola

Coca-Cola lovers might get a little rebellious if you tell them to pour the drink into their kettle to descale it.

However, it is certainly a very effective method, especially if you mix 250 ml of Coca-Cola with a small amount of baking soda.

The drink should be boiled and only then add a teaspoon of baking soda. After 30 minutes, the desired effect will be achieved. Of course, after this, the kettle should be rinsed with water.

Descaling agents

Today, there are many ready-made descaling products available in stores that effectively clean your kettle of scale, removing unsightly deposits.

So this is a method for the lazy or unbelievers who are not sure that baking soda, vinegar or acid work as effectively.

How to recognize scale formation

Hard water is the result of high levels of calcium and magnesium compounds. Both elements precipitate out of the water when boiled, and this is noticeable to the naked eye as they become visible as a characteristic coating.

Interestingly, most scientists claim that the presence of both compounds in the water we drink is very useful for us, moreover, necessary for life. It has been noted that people who consume so-called soft water suffer more often from heart disease and live less.

However, in the end, no one likes the sediment that forms in the kettle and subsequently appears as a white film on the glasses. First of all, it has one drawback - it is unsightly, and therefore we want to get rid of it at any cost.

In more serious cases, our kettle starts to "rattle" because there is too much scale in it, which has broken off from its walls, and it makes a distinct humming sound when the appliance is lifted.

Luckily, there are several proven and effective ways to remove limescale from an electric kettle.

It is also worth noting that some types of kettles are more resistant to scale formation.

Clean your kettle regularly

Whichever product you choose, each one will certainly help in the fight against hard water and limescale deposits.

It is very important to carry out such procedures regularly, without delaying until scale appears in the device, because then we will need more time and effort to remove it.
