Pearl barley is quite capricious when it comes to making porridge.

And soak it for a day, and make sure it doesn’t burn during the cooking process, otherwise it might still turn out tasteless.

Culinary expert of HERE NEWS, cook and fourth-class baker Yulia Arkhipova is ready to tell you how to cook perfect pearl barley quickly and without soaking.

Cooking life hacks

First of all, you need to rinse the pearl barley. And the secret is that the cereal requires several thorough rinses.

It is recommended to do this the first time under lukewarm water, and the second time under hot water.

Then don’t be lazy and boil the cereal thoroughly for 3-4 minutes, then drain the water and only then start cooking until done.

In addition, thin-walled cookware is not suitable for cooking pearl barley. Also, the porridge cannot be cooked in a saucepan with low sides.

Don't be squeamish about the final stage. After the porridge is cooked, be sure to wrap it up and leave it to "come to rest" for 30-60 minutes.

Earlier we wrote about whether it is necessary to drain the water when cooking pearl barley.
