Not everyone understands the point of turning the jars over after canning is complete.

This is precisely why the same is done with those banks that do not need this action.

Culinary expert of TUT NEWS, chef and fourth-class baker Yulia Arkhipova will tell you why jars are turned upside down and when you shouldn’t do it.

Do you need to turn the jars over?

The jars are turned over first to see if the lid is tightly closed. As long as the jar is standing properly, it will be impossible to detect a leak.

Wrapping and turning together ensures better hermetic sealing of the preservation.

However, if you turn a jar with a self-screwing lid, called a twist-off lid, upside down, then you only make things worse.

It's all about the nylon ring, which expands under the influence of high temperature, ensuring high tightness.

If you turn such a jar upside down, all the heat will go to the top, and the lid needs it first and foremost.
