In her Telegram channel, nutritionist Liza Afinskaya revealed one non-obvious, but extremely useful property of onions.

The specialist reminded that the vegetable contains special volatile oils that have antioxidant activity.
They are the ones that prevent previously cut avocados from darkening and spoiling, which loses its appetizing appearance the next day.
It is enough to take one onion, cut it in half and put it in a container together with a cut avocado. There is no need to remove the pit from the latter.
One of the main conditions is that the storage container must have a tight lid so that the onion vapors do not escape.
The active substances in the onion will prevent the avocado from darkening and spoiling. As Afonskaya specified, it will remain green and edible even if it sits in the refrigerator for several days.
