Doctor told Russians which jam is the healthiest

Jam itself is a delicious treat.

However, there are types of jam that are healthier than others.

In an interview with Sputnik radio, nutritionist Irina Berezhnaya explained how one delicacy differs from another.

According to her, store-bought jam has the advantage of being stored for a long time. But that's where its advantages end: this effect is achieved through long-term heat treatment, which kills all the vitamins.

Therefore, if there are any useful substances in it, they were added after the delicacy was prepared.

Compared to store-bought jam, homemade jam is healthier. This is especially true for the so-called five-minute jam, which requires minimal heat treatment.

This delicacy retains all the beneficial substances, for example:

  • vitamin C;
  • antioxidants;
  • fiber.

Also, homemade jam has a unique taste and aroma, unlike store-bought jam, which may contain flavor enhancers and other additives, the doctor concluded.
