A phlebologist has named the optimal heel height for women's shoes.

According to the specialist, this figure should not exceed 5 centimeters.

Phlebologist at Moscow's Yusupov Hospital Elena Smirnova expressed this opinion in a conversation with the RIA Novosti portal.

The optimal heel height for women's shoes is from 3 to 5 centimeters. Anything higher than this inevitably has a negative impact on human health.

In particular, constantly wearing stilettos or other high heels causes the calf muscles to be tense. This, in turn, worsens blood flow to the limb.

Deterioration of blood flow will sooner or later lead to the development of varicose veins, and the accumulation of blood in the veins will cause pain and heaviness in the legs.

At the same time, the specialist also noted that it is not worth completely giving up heels, since wearing shoes with flat soles is also harmful to a person.
