One common habit can lead to disastrous consequences.
Ophthalmologist and microsurgeon Svetlana Mirgorodskaya advises to give up the habit of rubbing your eyes with your hands.
In a conversation with Gazeta.Ru , the expert explained what consequences these actions have.

Firstly, this can cause bacterial conjunctivitis or blepharitis.
They are accompanied by redness of the eyes and eyelids, swelling, and itching.
It is not possible to get rid of such consequences immediately. Treatment will be required, which will take several weeks.
Secondly, this habit can lead to damage to the surface of the eye.
Corneal or conjunctival erosion may occur.
In these cases, if there is no timely treatment, bacterial complications develop.
Thirdly, regular friction causes a disease called keratoconus.
The cornea becomes thinner, which triggers processes leading to a decrease in visual acuity.
