Tucker Carlson and Hillary Clinton had a hand in the largest prisoner exchange between Russia and Western countries.

American media have learned what role the journalist and former US presidential candidate played in this case.

The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reports that the prisoner exchange that took place on August 1 was in the works for several years.

This issue was raised at the meeting between Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden in Switzerland in June 2021.

But even before this, the parties discussed possible options, and the lists of people who could be exchanged were constantly changing.

Hillary Clinton was persuaded to lobby the German government for the possibility of exchanging Alexei Navalny* for Vadim Krasikov.

Krasikov received a life sentence in Germany for the murder of Chechen commander Zelimkhan Khangoshvili. He was eventually included on the list.

WSJ reports that Tucker Carlson discussed the possibility of exchanging Evan Gershkovich with the Russian president before his interview with Vladimir Putin.

The WSJ journalist, sentenced to 16 years in prison in Russia, was included on the list along with former Marine Paul Whelan, who was detained back in 2018.
