How to properly combine foods in one meal to avoid stomach problems

No matter how hard we try to pay attention to how, how many times a day and what to eat, sometimes even after quite high-quality, fresh and natural products we may experience heaviness, bloating and heartburn.

Why? It's all about their compatibility. Here are the most popular food "tandems" that are best avoided.

The first is one protein dish with another. Alas, but the traditional American breakfast, which includes bacon and eggs, sausages, toast with jam, coffee or milk, will have to be abandoned.

The fact is that such an abundance of animal protein in one meal, along with prolonged satiety, will also provide you with a heaviness in the stomach, which is why you will have to finish your breakfast with digestive pills.

If you are used to eating at least one protein product in the morning, add a portion of fiber to it. Scrambled eggs with tomatoes are no less delicious than fried eggs with fatty bacon.

The second dangerous "duet" is milk with citrus fruits. Making cocktails from cold milk with the addition of orange or grapefruit juice is fraught with the fact that the milk will quickly begin to curdle under the action of the acid from the citrus juice, and you will soon feel discomfort in your stomach after drinking the cocktail.

Likewise, you can’t eat bananas with milk, as the result is a mixture that is difficult and takes a long time to digest.

But you can help your stomach cope with a delicious banana milkshake by sprinkling the finished portion with cinnamon powder.

The third combination of products that should be avoided is coffee and rye bread. If you are used to having a cup of coffee with a sandwich, then it is better to choose white bread for the second one or completely replace the sandwich with another type of snack.

Why? Rye bread contains a lot of B vitamins, and caffeine prevents their normal and complete absorption. True, this can only happen if you drink thirteen cups of coffee a day or more. But you should still be on guard and not combine coffee with a slice of rye bread.

"Tandem" number four - fruits and the main meal. You shouldn't eat an apple for lunch or eat a juicy peach for breakfast with oatmeal, because the juicy pulp of the fruit makes the other products ferment in the stomach.

And this process can be accompanied by bloating, diarrhea and even vomiting. To get the benefits of fruits, eat them an hour before the main meal or an hour after.

The fifth combination is the previously mentioned milk and green tea. Many people drink this drink to lose weight or quench their thirst, but adding milk to green tea is a mistake.

Milk reduces the amount of antioxidant substances that are so rich in high-quality and properly brewed green tea, and there is little that is useful in the finished mixture.

Combination number six is watermelon and foods containing a lot of salt.

There are gourmets who even eat a juicy watermelon, having previously sprinkled its pulp with salt, or add a slice of bread sprinkled with salt for satiety.

Meanwhile, such a “duet” is harmful to the kidneys and contributes to the development of edema, because salt perfectly retains in the body all the liquid contained in the watermelon pulp.

And the last, seventh “tandem” of products harmful to digestion is cheese in combination with cold and sweet carbonated water.

That is, those who like to eat pizza with cheese filling and wash it down with Coca-Cola or Fanta should be wary. And it is not even about the abundance of calories received from such a snack: cheese is poorly digested when consumed together with soft drinks, and you can expect consequences such as heaviness, belching and heartburn.
