Do I need to wash it?

The answer to this question is yes. Rice should be thoroughly washed under running cold water before cooking.

This will wash away dust from the grains. The water will also remove starch from the rice, making it crumbly.

This rule also applies to parboiled rice.

How to wash properly

Rice must be washed using a specific technology depending on the variety.

So, first you need to pour whole grain rice into a colander. Then put it under cold water and hold it there for about 30 seconds.

Afterwards, the cereal needs to be shaken and transferred to a saucepan.

For white rice, the steps are similar. You just need to keep it under water for two or three minutes, stirring occasionally.

Cooking rules

It is best to cook rice in a saucepan with a thick bottom. Moreover, it should be poured into boiling water.

After that, stir it only once and cook it over low heat under a lid.

If you follow these rules, the rice will be crumbly.
