They were often prepared by relatives for a quick and filling lunch. They come with various fillings: mushroom, vegetable, sweet.

For a hearty meal, dumplings with potatoes are more suitable, for example; it’s not difficult to learn this recipe.
Ingredients for cooking
Dough:
- Water 250 ml.
- Wheat flour 500 g.
- Egg 1 pc (small).
- salt 1 tsp.
Filling:
- Potatoes 700 g.
- Milk 100-150 ml.
- Butter (cream) 30 g.
- 1 large onion
- Salt and spices to taste.
Step 1. Prepare the filling: peel the potatoes and cut them in half for faster cooking. Place the potatoes in a saucepan, add water (it should cover them completely), add salt and boil.
While the main ingredient is cooking, chop the onion into small pieces and fry in a frying pan with a small amount of vegetable oil.
You can add various spices to taste. It is also important not to burn the onion, so that it does not become bitter later. You can use other ingredients with it: grated carrots, mushrooms, and for a fattier version - lard.
Step 2. Drain all the water from the pot with potatoes, add fried onions and mash them to a puree consistency, adding warmed milk (it can also be replaced with the water in which it was cooked) and butter. Add herbs to the finished filling if desired.
Step 3. Making the dough: mix sifted flour with salt, egg and water. Knead a stiff dough without lumps.
Step 4. Divide the dough into equal pieces, roll each of them into a medium-thick round flatbread.
The main thing is not to overdo it with rolling, otherwise the mass will break during cooking. Put a teaspoon of filling on it. Fasten the edges of the dumpling. This can be done in several ways.
For example, stick the edges together with your hands, moistened with water. Or flatten with a fork, then the edges of the product will be patterned. The dumplings are ready.
Step 5. You can cook part of the dish right away, and put the rest on boards and freeze. After 7-9 hours in the freezer, pack into bags.
To prepare, place a pot of water on the fire and bring to a boil.
Add salt to the water and lower the dumplings, wait until they float to the surface, cook them for 5-10 minutes. The dish is ready. For a beautiful presentation, you can pour sour cream over them and sprinkle some herbs on top.
