Yogurt Diet: Losing Weight the Smart Way

“What should I eat to lose weight?” – this question worries those who want to lose weight, maybe not in a couple of days, but with pleasure.

And this question, as it turns out, is not rhetorical.

The answer was found by Dr. Zeik. His posh boarding house in Switzerland was a fashionable resort among the elite in the 1930s, thanks to a treatment program that included a special yogurt diet that allowed distinguished clients to lighten their overweight bodies by 5-6 kg in 10 days, without suffering from hunger.

All the laurels were attributed to the main product on which the diet was based - yogurt. Today, the yogurt diet is one of the most popular.

Firstly, because it is quite easy to follow, and only the lazy have not written about the benefits of yogurt.

Secondly, it is a truly “weight loss” product: its basis is skim low-calorie milk and bacteria that can take root in the intestines and restore its microflora, and therefore improve the digestibility of food.

Thirdly, yogurt has a balanced composition of proteins, fats and carbohydrates, and therefore satisfies hunger well; it is universal for cooks: it can be used as a basis for light sauces, desserts and salad dressings.

Besides, it tastes good, and to stick to a diet you don't have to buy expensive advertised yogurts. Our "Mechnikovskaya" sour milk is essentially and in its composition the same yogurt.

So, the daily diet when following a yogurt diet should include: 500 ml of yogurt itself, 300 g of fruit (unsweetened) or berries, even dried fruit is allowed, 100 g of lean boiled meat, unlimited non-starchy vegetables.

All seasonings, especially salty ones, should be limited as much as possible. Freshly squeezed juices (from permitted fruits) are recommended as drinks, especially pomegranate, to avoid vitamin and iron deficiency and maintain vascular elasticity, as well as unsweetened tea and water. By the way, half a cup of warm tea should be drunk every time before a meal to dull the feeling of hunger.

You can create your diet menu and meal schedule at your own discretion.

Breakfast: make a fruit salad from 150 g of fruit and dress it with yogurt.

For lunch: make a cabbage salad with grated apple, seasoned with a mixture of lemon and orange juice, and something like okroshka: chop cucumbers, radishes, greens, boiled meat, pepper well and pour over yogurt.

For dinner: stew cabbage with zucchini and tomatoes, season with a mixture of yogurt and mustard.

For snacks, eat one piece of fruit or a handful of berries or drink a glass of juice.

The diet of permitted products can be varied if you use your imagination and not at all “hungry”, since you can fill your portion with any amount of vegetables.

Then the path to the ideal weight will be the most pleasant. But it is important when choosing a healthy fermented milk product not to get into trouble and not to buy useless thermally processed delicacies. This will not bring any benefit.

It is important to pay attention to the shelf life of the product; if it is more than a month, then you have a surrogate in front of you.

You shouldn't buy yoghurts with additives - they contain too much sugar and starch, i.e. empty carbohydrates, which are useless on a diet. And in general, it is useful to read the composition of the product.

The “right” yogurt necessarily contains the Bulgarian lactic acid bacillus – Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. Bulgaricus, which is the main value of the product.

It is not recommended to follow a yogurt diet for more than 14 days, since it still involves limiting many nutrients contained in cereals, sufficient amounts of meat, fish, vegetable oil, etc.

In addition, like any other diet, it can simply become boring, and then a breakdown is inevitable. It is better if you like it to repeat it in a few months.
