To wash or not to wash

Experienced housewives always wash buckwheat before cooking. This is due to several reasons.

Thus, buckwheat can become covered with dust and dirt during the harvesting and storage process.

In addition, sometimes producers cultivate cereals with special protective agents. As a result, all this risks getting into the body.

Also, phytic acid can settle on buckwheat, which is recommended to be removed before cooking.

Therefore, it is enough to hold buckwheat under running water for a couple of minutes and only then put it into the pan.

How to cook cereals correctly

Pour a glass of buckwheat into a colander. Place it under warm running water, stirring the grain periodically with your hands.

This procedure should last about 5 minutes. Then pour the cereal into a saucepan and pour 2 cups of water into it.

Cover with a lid and put on the stove. Buckwheat should be cooked on low heat.

After cooking, there is no need to wash the cereal, because at this stage such actions will be pointless.

Earlier we told you why buckwheat cannot be cooked in cold water.
