If you do not follow the rules for staying in the sun in hot weather, there is a high probability of getting sunburn.

There are many folk remedies that relieve pain, itching, and redness caused by skin burns, but not all of them are effective.

The right decision

In case of burns, it is worth keeping an ointment or spray with panthenol in the first aid kit. If there is nothing at hand, then you can provide first aid by cooling the skin with a compress, for example, from clean water. And then apply a moisturizer.

But it is not always worth using folk remedies. Some of them are even dangerous. And under no circumstances should you apply alcohol-containing products to your skin.

Important! If your temperature rises, you are bothered by headaches, dizziness, a burn larger than two palms, or there are blisters, you should not self-medicate, you must immediately consult a doctor!

Aloe juice

Having an anti-inflammatory effect, it significantly enhances skin regeneration processes. For sunburn, it is recommended to dilute aloe juice 1:1, soak gauze in it and make compresses.

Expert opinion: Aloe juice can improve the situation a little with sunburn: if it is not severe, it will have a mild soothing effect and reduce inflammation.

Chamomile decoction

Flowers contain substances that relieve irritation and reduce redness. To prepare a decoction, pour 200 ml of boiling water over a tablespoon, keep it in a water bath for half an hour, then strain and bring the volume of the decoction to 200 ml. Soak a cloth in the warm composition and make 20-minute compresses.

Expert opinion: When the skin is red, chamomile decoction can alleviate the condition, as the decoction has an anti-inflammatory effect.

Sour cream or kefir. It is recommended to lubricate the burn site with them.

Expert opinion. This is not the best recommendation: dairy products form a greasy film on the skin, which will prevent the burnt area from healing. For the same reason, burns are not treated with oil.

Potato

Or potato starch. The starch is diluted with water to a slurry state. The tuber is grated. Either product is applied to the skin.

Expert opinion. There is no evidence that potatoes and starch have a healing effect. In addition, there is a risk of introducing an infection when using tubers, which will prevent the healing of damaged tissues.

It is easier to prevent any illness than to cure it later, so do not neglect the rules of behavior in the active sun to avoid sunburn!
